Submission guidelines
Who may submit a story?
Anyone who has had to cope with mental or emotional difficulties and wishes to share their story. This is not limited to individuals who have a mental-disorder, but includes care-givers, family and friends.
How long should my story be?
We do not have a specified word-limit. We leave the decision of how long your story is up to you. However, please remember your story will be displayed online and the longer your story, the longer it will take to load. This is especially important when viewed using a slow connection. If you have a particularly long story you wish to submit, consider splitting it up into parts, we can link from one part to another.
Are there content limitations?
You may write about anything you wish related to mental-health or emotional well being. We do not allow the use of profanity. The essay must be original, and you must be the owner of the copyright in order to submit it.
Who owns the copyright to my article?
You do. The Bright Side does not take ownership of copyright, The Bright Side simply prints the essay on The Bright Side website with your permission.
Is there compensation?
No .All essays are contributed by the authors. All authors are included in our list of contributors in the Thank You section of the site.
Who determines if the article will be accepted?
One of our editors will review your story and decide if it is appropriate for our site. From time to time we may choose to keep an essay for future publication in new sections that are in development. Whatever the decision, you will be notified by e-mail as soon as your story has been reviewed. Please, due to the amount of e-mail we receive daily, it may take us a while to respond to your story submission. Please be patient, we do respond to every email we receive.
Please note - since we are a volunteer-based organization, it may take a while to respond to, and/or post your submission. However, we do respond to each story submission we receive.
