Immediate goals

"Goals determine what you are going to be."
-- Julius Erving

The Bright Side's first and most immediate goal, is to create a website that will provide a strong foundation for growth. The initial site will be limited in scope, concentrating most of its efforts in the following areas:

  • Suicide prevention
  • Depression
  • Coping with Loss
  • Directory of links to existing mental health resources online

To achieve this goal we are concentrating our efforts on content development, recruiting volunteers and content providers to help develop the site, web design and graphic design.

Another short-term goal is to incorporate and attain a non-profit 501(c) 3 status. We are currently working with California's Public Council towards achieving this goal.

An equally important goal is the development of our advisory team. The advisory team will consist of professionals within the mental health community including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, motivational speakers and so on.

We are seeking out leading authorities within specific fields of mental health (experts on specific disorders such as depression, manic-depression, schizophrenia, PTSD and so on). We are also seeking unique individuals who are not only mental health professionals, but have also personally experienced a mental disorder. We feel such people have a deeper insight into the struggles people with mental illness face, and can provide guidance from not only a professional point of view, but also the point of view of a fellow person dealing with a mental disorder.
