Poetry is a way of taking life by the throat.
--Robert Frost
Who may submit a poem?
Anyone at all. We encourage anyone who uses poetry as a form of therapy, or an outlet to help them cope with and comment on life to share their writings with us.
How long should my poem be?
We do not have a specified word-limit. We leave the decision of how long your poem is up to you. However, please remember your poem will be displayed online and the longer your poem, the longer it will take to load. This is especially important when viewed using a slow connection. If you have a particularly long poem you wish to submit, consider splitting it up into parts, we can link from one part to another.
Are there content limitations?
You may write about anything you wish. However, keep in mind we are a family-friendly site and therefore do not allow the use of profanity. The poem must be original, and you must be the owner of the copyright in order to submit it.
Who owns the copyright to my poem?
You do. The Bright Side does not take ownership of copyright, The Bright Side simply prints the article on The Bright Side website with your permission.
Is there compensation?
No. All poems are contributed by the authors. All authors are included in our list of contributors in the Thank You section of the site.
Who determines if the poem will be accepted?
One of our editors will review your poem and decide if it is appropriate for our site. Whatever the decision, you will be notified by e-mail as soon as your poem has been reviewed. Due to the amount of e-mail we receive daily, it may take us a while to respond to your article submission. Please be patient, we do respond to every email we receive.
Please note - since we are a volunteer-based organization, it may take a while to respond to, and/or post your submission. However, we do respond to each story submission we receive.
